the League of Leaf People

I was super excited to do this project as our first with some of the kids in our new neighborhood.  Including us, there are now 8 kids, under 9 years old, living in adjacent houses.  This opportunity of having playmates so close is brand new to us … and we love it!

And, making the leaf people was a huge it!  The neighborhood is filled with large Hickory, Maple, & Oak trees … so the kids were able to gather the supplies from the backyard.  I had each of them collect one leaf, sticks, acorns, and hickory nuts.  We brought them inside and I used my glue gun to apply the natural elements to the toilet paper roll body … fall family fun!

This is where I got this idea … leaf-people-finger-puppets

These came out adorable! We tried to glue leaves on the toilet paper rolls but only used school glue and they wouldn’t stick. Very cute!
