(These sharing guidelines are a slightly altered version of Sweet C’s Designs … I thank her for the inspiration and passion of spreading the word of protecting the work of bloggers.)
I am so glad you’ve stopped by PlayDrMom. When you look around at my blog, I hope it truly inspires you. Why else would I be sharing my ideas with the world if I didn’t want anyone to see them? I LOVE having people share my work. It is the greatest feeling in the world. It is so humbling every time I am asked if someone can share something I thought was special.
I don’t just love creating- I love blogging. So I am passionate about protecting the work of bloggers, including myself.
Can I use your pictures or tutorials/recipes on my blog?
Yes, I’d be SO honored! I do ask that people sharing my work follow a few simple guidelines to protect my content:
Please use ONE picture and a summary (in your own words) with a link to my original post. If you use an activity or project, the standard is to do the same- unless you significantly change 3 ingredients or make a fun twist and change it up in some new way.
There is no need to ask if you share something, but if you send me a note I can help promote your post!
I don’t want to scare people off from sharing what I love- because I blog to show the things that make me smile and hope they make you smile too. Feel free to pin and share the work you find here (using the guidelines above)… you are doing ME a favor!
If you would like to publish my photographs or reprint my work for print or a commercial purpose, please contact me at playdr@gmail.com
One Photo + A Summary + A Link = AWESOME SHARE
Are you a blogger wondering more about what is ok to share and how to share responsibly? Have you ever had your content show up somewhere else? Read on!
What is stealing from a blog?
Stealing from a blog is taking someone’s pictures, someone’s words, someone’s works. If you take a recipe or tutorial that someone spent a lot of time carefully trying to figure out, then making and photographing and just copy and paste it on your blog (even with your own photos) you are stealing. If you use more than one photo from a post, without permission to use more than 1, you are stealing.
Why does this matter?
Stealing hurts both websites SEO. This means when search engines look for either posts, they risk of being buried in the results because they look like exact copies, which search engines try to prevent from happening to discourage scammers. This hurts both the copying site and the copied- and totally stinks for both. So, it kind of seems pointless.
Stealing content makes it seem like a website doesn’t have any original ideas. People go to your blog for YOU. If they wanted to see another blog, they’d go to that other blog. You rock, so show yourself off!
If you have a blog, and you see your work somewhere else, don’t feel afraid to stand up for yourself. While being nice first is always the best policy (so many of us bloggers didn’t know the rules, and a simple conversation clears up a majority of these issues), you CAN fight someone who won’t give in. Ask for help. Reach out. I’d fight just as hard for another blogger’s rights as I would my own rights.
