Wacky Day – Virtual Kids Book Club featuring Dr. Seuss

One of my kids’ favorite Dr. Seuss book (actually favorite of ANY books) is Wacky Wednesday.  We have read it a countless number of times.  My kids love to find all the wacky and misplaced things on each page.  Since the Virtual Book Club for Kids was featuring Dr. Seuss this month I thought I’d surprise them with a WACKY DAY!

a wacky day

“It all began with that shoe on the wall. A shoe on the wall …? Shouldn’t be there at all!”

After they were asleep I prepped the house for some VERY wacky things.  I decided to do this on a Saturday night, so that we would have a chance to enjoy finding all the wacky things … rather than on a Wednesday (aka school day) where we would be rushed!

That morning when my son got up, we came downstairs because he wanted some breakfast.  He slowly started to notice that some things in the kitchen were a bit off.  Like the blanket on the kitchen table, instead of a tablecloth.

Then I served him is cereal … in a glass with a bowl of milk and a fork.  He looked at me and said, “Mom, you must still be really sleepy!”  And I said, “I am.  But I think lots of things around here are wacky today.”

My daughter came down and automatically asked why there was a banana on the telephone.  And then the hunt was on to find all the things that were wacky that day!

We had a great day being even more silly and wacky then we usually are!  It was so much fun to do this kind of day just out of the blue … instead of it being somewhat expected (like on April Fools Day).
