One of the things that really sets the mood for any season for my family is sitting down together and watching some holiday related movies. Here are some of my favorite Halloween movies for kids …
Mickey’s House of Villains– A series of Mickey short-cartoons about ghosts, haunted houses, and everything Halloween.
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse – Mickey’s Treat – 3 Clubhouse episodes including “Mickey’s Treat” where the characters get prepared to go the Pete’s Halloween Party. The DVD also includes a Halloween episode of Little Einsteins’.
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad – includes the classic legend of Sleepy Hollow (Disney Style). And you really can’t go wrong with Bing Crosby!
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown – I remember watching this every year on TV as a kid! Will the Great Pumpkin ever come to the pumpkin patch?
Hotel Transylvania – What’s Dracula to do? He’s “baby girl” is growing up! It’s a fun, kid friendly movie that’s great for this time of year.
Frankenweenie – A young boy brings his dog back to life.
Nightmare Before Christmas – Classic Tim Burton movie and a must-see for Halloween.
Casper (1995) – Girl and Ghost befriend each other.
Addam’s Family and Addam’s Family Values – They’re creepy and they’re spooky … but funny too!
the Harry Potter series – What could be better to watch in October than the witches at Hogwarts?!?
And here are some more suggestions for older kids and/or adults … Ghostbusters, The Crow, Beetlejuice, The Legend of Sleepy Hallow, Coraline, Little Shop of Horrors, and Young Frankenstein.
