3 Fall Crafts … for me

Last weekend I got to spend a fabulous time welcoming in autumn by going on an annual trip I make with my girlfriends … which are all part of a craft group I started the same year I became a mom.  The group has paralleled my growth as a mother, friend, and person.  The weekend was filled with creating, laughter, eating, relaxing, and simply enjoying life.  The weather was very fickle … raining one minute, sunny the next, then hail … and always extremely windy.  This was perfect crafting weather, thus I got a lot done!

Here are 3 fall crafts that I completed this weekend …

I had lots of grand ideas on how I wanted to create a couple new wreaths for the fall … but after fiddling a bit with different materials and arrangements, I decided that simple was the best.  I picked up grapevine wreaths ($4.99/each) and silk fall leaves ($.99/package) at Michael’s the day we left for the trip.  I simply adhered the leaves using my trusting hot glue gun and … voila … simple fall wreaths just perfect for my office door and front porch at home!

This project was inspired by one of the very first posts I repinned on Pinterest … Fall leaves garland DIY by A Beautiful Mess.  All I did was cut simple leaves out of a few different colors of felt and hand stitch them with yarn … voila #2 … simple fall garland.

And what’s a girl to do with a tin can, some sticks from the surrounding woods, and a glue gun?  Make a ruSTICK container of course!  I got this idea from good ‘ol Martha.  It’s just perfect for fall decorating.  I’m thinking about putting tea lights inside or flowers inside it.  I also plan to make more of these and write on the bottom of the can where and when I acquired the sticks for each can (as I did for this one!).  That way the container(s) will also serve as a keepsake from the trip!

Happy Autumn!

I hope all of you take some time to create something just for yourself and nurture the person inside you!!!

Thanks for these ideas. Sometimes it’s hard to take time for crafty mom endeavors since we are so busy with kid crafts. I like how these projects are simple but add a nice Fall touch. Pinning onto my Fall board.

I think it is awesome that you have started a tradition that gives you time with friends and not in Mommy mode all the time. See even at simple I would manage to screw something up ..however give me baked goods or cooking and I can do nearly anything. Love your last one, wish I had more trees here to make that.

I love the stick container. Think my girls and I will make that later! Stopping by from SITS!
